CowManager honored several Select Sires consultants and one South Dakota dairy with awards, recognizing their exceptional accomplishments and commitment to CowManager’s cow monitoring system.
Select Sires Consultants Recognized with Awards from CowManager
Bekah Meller from COBA/Select Sires Inc. was named the 2023 Up and Coming CowManager Specialist of the Year. Meller, a genetic and reproductive advisor from Kenton, Ohio, joined the COBA team in August 2022. She has helped 31 dairies install CowManager’s activity monitoring system and interpret the data for improved operations.
Scott Hecker from CentralStar Cooperative in Howards Grove, Wisconsin, received the 2023 Outstanding CowManager Specialist of the Year award. Hecker has been part of the Select Sires team since 2006, working as a reproductive specialist, professional A.I. technician supervisor, and CowManager specialist. He has played a key role in assisting customers in enhancing reproductive performance and achieving herd goals.
Hammink Dairy, located in Select Sires MidAmerica’s cooperative region, was recognized as the 2023 CowManager Success Story of the Year. Owners William and Tom Hammink installed the CowManager system in 2019 and have observed significant improvements in their herd’s reproductive performance and overall health, including a 35% pregnancy rate over the past year.
In addition to the consultant awards, representatives from CowManager honored Dr. Ray Nebel, retired vice president of technical services at Select Sires Inc., by establishing the Dr. Ray Nebel Legacy Award. Nebel has been a driving force behind Select Sires’ involvement with activity monitoring systems and their marketing alliance with CowManager since 2008. Lyle Kruse, vice president of U.S. market development at Select Sires Inc., described Nebel as a friend, mentor, and one of the best dairy consultants in the business, emphasizing his significant positive influence on the organization and dairy producers worldwide.
These awards highlight the achievements and contributions of the consultants and dairy farms utilizing CowManager technology in partnership with Select Sires.
