Mike Marshall, a 550 cow dairy farmer in West Otago, New Zealand, talks about his life changing experience with the CowManager system. “All our staff have the app on their phones, so everybody can use it, everybody knows what is going on.”
“We’re able to spend more time at home with family”
More Time for Family
“We’re able to spend more time at home with family, we’re more rested and able to notice things that we wouldn’t have noticed beforehand”, Mike says.
“In the Autumn my daughter was born; she decided that she was gonna come a little bit early. We did a week of mating with CowManager, and then she decided she was ready to come into the world. We ended up spending two weeks in the hospital, which in a normal situation would not go well with mating going on. But I had no stress, I knew those cows were getting drafted out every day. We had a great mating, the results speak for themselves.”
Monitoring health and fertility
When asked about the the Fertility Module, Mike responds: “It’s great. We’ve increased our six week in calf rate by about 15%, so we’ve gone up to 78% in our six week in calf rate. Our empty rate has dropped from about 24% down to 13%. It’s quite substantial, yeah. We’re also picking up those silent heats that we weren’t able to pick up beforehand.”
They also use the health monitoring module. “The Health Module has been invaluable, picking up cows before they go down, metabolic diseases like ketosis.”
Why CowManager?
Increase Workload Efficiency
Divide your workload more efficiently thanks to real-time alerts. Focus on the right cow at the right time and be able to spend more time off-farm.
Improve Health & Production
Optimize your farm management by finding cows in heat and catching sick cows earlier, improving your herd’s health and production.
Always Know When to Inseminate
Inseminating 10 to 22 hours after receiving a heat alert is known to be a success. This makes mating and breeding a breeze!
